If you’ve been assigned the task of corporate even planning and design for the next big company get together, then its your big chance to shine. At the same time, if you don’t get it right, your star can grow dim real fast. So here are a few tips to help you through to a stellar job that will cement your reputation as the premier corporate host or hostess with the mostess. The Devil Is In the Details Begin by planning early. I know that sounds like a real no brainer but you simply must not leave anything to chance. Make a list and go over it item by item, racking your brain for anything you may have missed. Simple things like making sure there are enough toilets in the bathrooms at your venue are crucial. What about paper towels and soap at the sinks for instance. Do you have contingency plans if it rains on your outside event? Be On the Lookout For Flakes – Keep In Touch Til the Day Of the Event As far as items like food caterers, photographers, musicians or any other type of entertainment for that matter are concerned, never bank on them entirely. Make sure that any person or group that you contract with has a verifiable alternative that can fill in for them. Also check with them regularly up to the day or evening of the event to make sure that they haven’t flaked on you. A Hefty Deposit Is No Insurance For a No-Show Bear in mind that a deposit, even a hefty deposit for that matter is not proof positive that they won’t flake. Only deal with people with good track records and verifiable reputations because musicians in particular have a well earned reputation for being unreliable. Sure you can drag them into small claims court and trash their reputation around town but in the mean time you’ll be left with egg on your face as far as the event is concerned. Check Into All the New and Unique Motivational Speaker Acts Check into booking one of those motivational speakers. There are some good ones out there and some of them have some pretty unique stuff. What about a one-eyed ex Navy Seal commander whose actually killed people in battle who forces your colleagues to walk across a bed of hot coals to challenge their fears and limitations? They’re out there. The Green Thing Is In Now In Corporate Event Planning and Design The “environmental green thing” is big now, so any way that you can work that into your corporate event planning and design is a plus. A good tip however, is to do it in a way that doesn’t inconvenience the guests. This definitely is an area that you may need to research because new developments are popping up on almost a weekly basis. Call around and see what kind of green “stuff” options are available for you quick and easy locally.
